Northeast Bulgaria Registers Record Heat Wave
The Danube city of Silistra registered at 12 pm Sunday a temperature of 35 degrees Celsius, the local meteorology station reports.
The weather people forecast even higher afternoon temperatures that might hit new records.
The temperature measured in Silistra Sunday is the maximum for this day in over 100 years. The absolute June record was on June 26, 2007 - 39,6 degrees Celsius, while the absolute low has been on June 4, 1950 - 5,5 degrees Celsius.
In the other northern Danube city, Ruse, the temperature has reached 38,5 degrees Celsius, measured in the shade.
