Good Spring birding
Went out on Saturday with Brian Stoneman from BirdsofBodrum www.kyteweb.net/birdsofbodrum , we had a good day and in just a few short hours listed 40 species. Which I'm now going to attempt to list from memory. So here goes;
Dalmatian Pelican, Grey Heron, Great Egret, Mute Swan (80+), White-Fronted Goose, Gadwall, Garganey, Shoveller, Teal, Great Crested Grebe, Little Grebe, Coot, Mallard, Cormorant, Pygmy Cormorant, Pochard, Ferruginous Duck, Marsh Harrier, Common Buzzard, Yellow legged Gull, Black-Headed Gull, Collared Dove, Tree Sparrow, Greenfinch, Hawfinch, Chaffinch, Starling, Magpie (Boo hiss!!), Blue Tit, Great Tit, Fieldfare, Blackbird, Wryneck, Black Woodpecker, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Syrian Woodpecker, Lesser spotted Woodpecker (best ever sighting at 2-3 metres).
Plus 2 I can't recall, oh we also heard but didn't see the following;
Pheasant, Green Woodpecker, Water Rail and a couple of Larks.
