We live at the Pelican Lake Guesthouse & Environmental Project Centre Srebarna, adjacent to the Biosphere Reserve in North East Bulgaria. We provide regular updates on our project work and reports on activity on the reserve. Over 70 Swans, 50 Dalmatian Pelicans and numerous geese , ducks and other water fowl were enjoying the temperature of 15 degrees plus today.

Peggy too was making the most of the day.....

Return of the Pelicans?


They may not be here to commence breeding
yet but today we spotted over 40 Dalmatian
Pelicans some distance away out in the middle
of the lake.

With temperatures of 10 degrees
in the shade the ice is melting again
confusing the wildlife even more!

The forecast is for another very
mild week with lots of sunshine,
it will be interesting to monitor
what the birds will decide to do.....
